LOVE

I tell you this every time we speak
Maybe it’s just a word but it needs to be heard
Because I love you
I really do
And this love will last until I pass

It’s birthed alongside me
As it was for you
An instant bond of growing fond
So far been 22 years long

We are not alone in this love
Everyone we see will have it too
Maybe not as strong as I for you
But it’s encoded in our DNA
Animals know this too
This feeling of I love you

When you repeat it back
You say it with a smile
To your child
Because you’re my father
And what you’ve given me
Will never be matched
And I’m glad you know you are loved
And that you love back just as much
